F1 Eyes Bangkok for New Street Circuit Grand Prix

F1 Eyes Bangkok for New Street Circuit Grand Prix

23/04/2024

F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali is in Thailand discussing plans to host a Bangkok Grand Prix. The event aims to use the city’s existing streets, blending racing excitement with urban scenery.

F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali has added Thailand to his travel itinerary this week.

It was already clear that after a South Korean delegation recently visited Suzuka to discuss a Formula 1 race, Domenicali intended to travel to the country this week “for further discussions”.

However, on Monday, the Italian was not in Korea; he was in Thailand.

Domenicali met with Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin, with Bloomberg reporting that Thailand and F1 are favorable towards a deal.

Government spokesperson Chai Watcharong stated, “Basically, if F1 is to happen in Thailand, we want the Grand Prix to take place on existing roads.”

“We are currently working on this,” he added, “with the capital Bangkok being the most likely location.”
