At the Chinese Grand Prix, Stake F1 drivers Bottas and Zhou locked in top ten starts, marking the team’s best performance this season amidst challenging weather conditions.
Valtteri Bottas qualified ninth for the Sprint at the Chinese Grand Prix. At the start of Q3, as the rain intensified, the Stake F1 driver briefly held second place for several seconds, but he is pleased with the result, especially since his teammate Guanyu Zhou will start beside him.
“Today was an excellent day for the team. Having both cars in the top 10 is how we want to start a race weekend,” Bottas said. “We experienced mixed conditions, which are always challenging, but it’s reassuring to know we would have been competitive regardless of the weather.”
“I’m really happy for Zhou and for the Chinese fans; reaching Q3 in a home race is special. Although it’s hard to gauge everyone’s race pace after the first free practice session, especially with the changing track conditions, we will give our best tomorrow.”
“The team did an excellent job, and with the added support of the Chinese fans, we intend to fight for points in the sprint and achieve a qualifying performance of this level tomorrow.”
Zhou is thrilled to have secured a good position under challenging conditions: “It’s great to be in Q3. We progressed from Q1 to Q2: there was a lot of potential in the car, but by the end, in the rainy Q3, we had just one lap to get the best possible result.”
“I just tried to complete a lap, even though everyone was struggling with grip. I’m pleased with today, with two cars in Q3, and the fans have been sensational; I’m looking forward to the rest of the weekend.”
“Tomorrow, points will only be awarded to the top eight, but we are taking it step by step. We placed two cars in the top 10 today, and we will give our all tomorrow. Anything can still happen; it will be a sprint from lights out to the finish. The guys fighting for points are strong, but we have a chance.”
