Haas F1’s challenging day unfolds with diligent effort and insight, despite performance struggles, highlighting Nico Hülkenberg’s cautious approach.
Haas F1 experienced a diligent day characterized by a lack of performance, yet underpinned by substantial work that proved to be intriguing. Nico Hülkenberg disclosed that he exercised caution due to challenging conditions that led to multiple track exits.
“There’s wind, gusts, and that’s why there were so many offs. It’s a very fast circuit now, there’s no room for error, and it’s quite tricky. The edges are tricky with walls but a strip of grass, which can quickly catch you out,” stated the German driver.
“Friday went well, no issues, and the standard program trying to clear things up for tomorrow. The pace on a single lap wasn’t great, so we need to find some performance for tomorrow, I think.”
Hülkenberg was pleased to find his car more comfortable on long runs: “I felt better on the long runs than with low fuel, so that’s a change and it’s good, compared to last year. We’re going to try to optimize that as much as possible.”
Kevin Magnussen finished last in the second practice session without setting a fast lap on soft tires, and he described his day: “It was a good day, the field is very tight so we can be about anywhere. But we’re in the fight to be in tenth or 11th position.”
