Ferrari intensifies its efforts to poach Red Bull’s top engineers, aiming to bolster its F1 team’s prowess and strategy.
It’s well known that Ferrari has been attempting for several weeks, even before the Horner affair, to recruit top talent from Red Bull Racing.
Adrian Newey and Pierre Waché might be tough to sway, but the Gazzetta has revealed the identities of four key Red Bull engineers Ferrari is trying to recruit.
These include Enrico Balbo, Head of Aerodynamics; David Morgan, responsible for aerodynamic performance on track; Ben Waterhouse, Performance Engineering Manager; and Alessandro Germani, Director of Aerodynamic Development.
The Italian newspaper reports that Ferrari has been in contact with the quartet.
Enrico Balbo, Red Bull’s aerodynamics chief, is Italian and was first approached by Ferrari at last year’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix in April.
David Morgan has been with the Milton Keynes team for six years, having previously left Williams.
Ben Waterhouse is said to know all the intricacies of the most dominant car in F1.
And Alessandro Germani, also Italian, is an expert in computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
Interestingly, Red Bull CEO Oliver Mintzlaff was spotted in a private conversation with Ferrari President John Elkann (photo) in the paddock of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
The discussions took place within the Red Bull hospitality area. Italian media suggest that the meeting was to discuss the Concorde Agreement rather than Ferrari’s desire to recruit the four Red Bull employees.
