Haas F1’s Quiet Thursday at Saudi GP: A Strategy?

Haas F1 shifts gears with a strategic approach at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, aiming for improvement after a subdued Thursday.

After a promising start in Bahrain, Haas F1 experienced a quiet Thursday at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. The team found themselves at the back of the pack during both sessions, but appeared to be on a different agenda from other teams, focusing on long runs with hard tires towards the end of FP2.

“It’s quite different from Bahrain, a different track, different feelings, but ultimately, it’s very fast here,” Nico Hülkenberg commented. “I think from a driving perspective, it was good, a day without any issues, so that was positive.”

“The feel in the car isn’t extraordinary, there’s room for improvement – especially on a single lap – even though I believe we are very close to each other in the midfield.”

Haas F1: Gaining Ground

Small things can make a big difference. It’s the normal learning process on the first day where we pick up things, and we hope to put it all together tomorrow. For now, I think it’s more challenging than seven days ago, but you never know, the margins are very small.”

Kevin Magnussen was generally on par with his teammate’s times and shared a rather similar sentiment: “I think we had an okay day, nothing spectacular in terms of pace, but once again the car seems good on long runs, more so than on low fuel laps.”

“We need to pick up the pace a bit, so I hope we can do that, but it’s very tight, and finding two tenths puts you close to the top 10.”

“It’s so tight that I think we could edge closer to the top 10 with an extraordinary lap and by improving the car’s balance. We want to secure a decent position in qualifying, but the race is what matters most, and that’s our focus. Everything will play out tomorrow.”
