Sauber’s second day of pre-season testing in Bahrain highlighted their solid progress, achieving both distance and data.

Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber experienced a second positive pre-season testing day at the Bahrain International Circuit.

It was another productive day for the team, which followed the direction set yesterday, amassing a significant amount of kilometers and data for the engineers to work with.

Guanyu Zhou took to the track with the C44 this morning, followed by Valtteri Bottas in the afternoon. Despite a shortened morning session due to a red flag triggered by a loose water evacuation plate beside the track, the team still managed to complete its full day’s program, including some performance runs and a race simulation in the late afternoon.

“We had another good testing day today; we definitely saw some progression from yesterday and were able to gather more valuable data and insights. Unfortunately, our morning run had to end early because of the red flag, but fortunately, we were still able to finish our planned program without any interruptions. Tomorrow is another day to get a better feel for the car ahead of our first race next weekend,” commented Zhou, who recorded the 13th fastest time of the day.

For Bottas, who was 9th in the standings, “it was another good day on track; we collected a large amount of data over 130 laps, and the driving was smooth, even better than yesterday with cooler track conditions – as I took part in the afternoon session, which is closer to what we will experience next week.”

“In terms of balance, I think we have made progress and found more performance, which certainly gives us a nice feeling. Nonetheless, there is always room for improvement, and that’s the direction we are aiming for tomorrow, trying to make the most of the last day of testing.”
