Alpine F1 experienced highs and lows in Brazil with Ocon’s P4 and Gasly’s early Q2 exit.

Esteban Ocon delivered one of the standout performances of the qualifying session in Brazil. The Alpine F1 driver will start fourth in the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, a position he’s pleased with, although he had hoped for slightly more.

“I’m glad I got up at 4:30 am for this! It’s great that these conditions help level the playing field between cars. I’m a bit disappointed with the final run because we tried something new and could have been third, but it’s a strong performance if we look at the season overall,” Ocon told Canal+.

Pierre Gasly will be starting from the second half of the grid after setting the 15th-fastest time, and he’s frustrated: “You’ve got to do laps, and I didn’t get a lap in Q2. There were quite a few things that didn’t go well. I won’t go into detail because I’m really annoyed—we could have managed things better, but we’ll need to fight our way up.”

“In Q2, I didn’t get a single lap on intermediates in either of my two runs. These situations are always tough to handle, but unfortunately, we should have done better. However, it’s this afternoon when the points are awarded.”
