Valtteri Bottas is on track for a Mercedes F1 return, with final negotiations underway, Toto Wolff confirms from Las Vegas.
Valtteri Bottas appears poised to return to Mercedes F1 next year.
Having lost his seat at Sauber, now owned by Audi, for 2025, the former ten-time Mercedes race winner has been linked not only to a reserve driver position but also to an advisory role alongside Toto Wolff.
Rumors in Las Vegas also suggest Bottas could be invited to compete in the World Endurance Championship next year, as Mercedes-AMG reenters the category in partnership with Italian LMGT3 team Iron Lynx.
“Nothing is signed, nothing is finalized, but if we were to bring him back into the family, we would all be very happy,” Wolff said in Las Vegas regarding the ongoing negotiations.
“What we can say is that if you have the chance to bring a driver like Valtteri back into the Mercedes family, with his abilities and his recent experience with these modern cars, you can count yourself extremely fortunate.”
“I’m very excited. You know, negotiations at the end — lawyers always try to derail contracts! I’m joking; they are excellent lawyers, and it’s just a matter of time.”
