Kevin Magnussen confirms discussions with Audi F1, keeping his options open as he awaits a final decision from Mattia Binotto.
Kevin Magnussen has confirmed the rumors we initially reported that he may be called upon by Sauber / Audi F1 for the last vacant seat on the grid. He has, in any case, had contacts to this effect.
An experienced and “less expensive” driver than Valtteri Bottas, Mattia Binotto may call on him if he wants two experienced drivers in the end.
Magnussen refuses to rule out an extension of his F1 career.
The Dane indicated that as long as the seat remains open, he will not limit his options, despite Binotto’s recent silence.
“Yes, when Seidl was there, I had contact, but I haven’t heard much since Mattia took over.”
“He knows I’m here, though, and there was a brief exchange. And hopefully, with a lot going on in the background at the moment, I’m not ready to decide my future outside of F1.”
“The season is ongoing, there’s still an open seat for 2025, so there’s no reason to commit to anything else.”
“There’s a good mix of options for my future, but there’s no reason to commit elsewhere now, and we’ll see where things go.”
“There’s no reason to say no to anything; I don’t need to commit, so it’s good to keep all options on the table.”
