Fernando Alonso remains sidelined by an intestinal infection, forcing his return to Europe for specialized treatment before the Brazilian GP.
“Just like in Mexico, Fernando Alonso will again miss Thursday’s press day in Brazil.
The Spaniard suffered an intestinal infection before the Mexico Grand Prix but managed to participate in Free Practice 2 as planned, as well as the Saturday and Sunday sessions.
Aston Martin F1 has indicated, however, that he hasn’t fully recovered and had to return to Europe while all other drivers traveled directly from Mexico to Brazil.
‘Fernando returned to Europe for additional treatment from a specialist. This extra day of treatment delayed his travel plans to Brazil, but he’ll be ready for this weekend’s race.'”
At 43, Fernando Alonso currently holds 9th place (62 points) in the F1 World Championship. Ahead of him, Sergio Perez (Red Bull) seems out of reach with 150 points, while his closest challenger is Nico Hülkenberg of Germany, with 31 points.
