Stake F1 shows improvement in Mexico with closer competition, but race results remain consistent with past performances.
Alessandro Alunni Bravi, representative of Stake F1, expressed optimism after glimpsing “a light at the end of the tunnel” in Mexico, with the team showing improved performance. Valtteri Bottas made it through to Q2, and the C44 appeared far closer to its rivals.
“We saw a slight improvement in terms of pace, and we looked better in Mexico, though the race outcome remained similar to previous ones in terms of positions,” remarked the Italian.
“We observed a step forward on track, as we were significantly closer to our competitors; however, the lack of pace in the second part of the stint continues to hinder our ability to truly contend with our direct rivals.”
Valtteri’s one-stop strategy on hard-medium tyres was barely enough to defend 14th place, with higher degradation leaving him exposed to Ocon in the final stages.
Guanyu Zhou finished 15th with a car not in peak condition, which Alunni Bravi found reassuring: “Guanyu’s race was compromised as he struggled with balance and brake cooling, ending in 15th.”
“In addition to the improved pace, we’re also pleased with the pit stops, as both were solid. We now need the upcoming upgrades currently being developed in Hinwil to provide the extra pace required to make further strides toward the front of the pack, which is even tighter than at the start of this season.”
