Ferrari’s Vasseur commends the team’s strategic mastery and Sainz’s impeccable performance, expressing satisfaction after another victorious race.
Fred Vasseur celebrates another victory for Ferrari after Carlos Sainz’s win in Mexico. The Scuderia’s director is pleased that his team has secured a second consecutive win, their fifth of the year.
“We are very happy with this second consecutive victory,” Vasseur stated. “Carlos had a perfect weekend; he was on pace from the first lap in Free Practice 1 and ran a very smart race, losing the lead in the first lap before overtaking Max with a superb move, after which he controlled the race.”
“Charles [Leclerc] also had a good pace, but he lost time with backmarkers, which cost us second place. But, honestly, it was a good weekend for him too, even though he wasn’t happy with the final result, which I completely understand.”
The Frenchman acknowledged that the SF-24 was not at its best on the Mexican track: “The car is not designed for Mexico, which is too unique a circuit, and this meant we had no particular advantage.”
“We had to do a lot of management because of the altitude, constantly monitoring the engine and brake temperatures to keep them at their limits, so we can truly say the team did a very good job.”
“Since Monza, our car has performed well on different types of tracks, so I believe we can be competitive in the remaining races as well. We need to keep working this way because it’s not just about the car’s potential but also about how the team executes the race.”
After scoring 96 points in two races, Ferrari aims to end the triple-header positively in Brazil: “Now we start from zero in São Paulo next week. We’ve won two races in a row, we’ve done a good job, so we need to keep pushing.”
“As for the championship, we continue to take it race by race. It’s not certain we’ll be ahead in São Paulo, but what is certain is that we’ll approach it with the same mindset.”
