Lando Norris clinched second place in Mexico, highlighting Verstappen’s aggressive driving as a key challenge during the race.
Lando Norris secured a second-place finish in the Mexican Grand Prix after a strong late surge to catch up with Charles Leclerc. The McLaren F1 driver lost time in the opening laps and was unable to close the gap to Carlos Sainz towards the end of the race, but he was pleased with the result.
“It was a very tough race, especially in the early laps. I tried to stay in contention and avoid any incidents. Carlos drove a great race, so congratulations to him and to Ferrari. They were very quick, I did my best, I gave it everything I had. And thank you to the crowd, the fans were fantastic today,” said the British driver.
Norris once again clashed with Max Verstappen in the early stages, after the Dutchman forced him off the track twice. While he had hoped for a cleaner battle, he nevertheless pushed against his rival while maintaining caution.
“I knew what to expect; I didn’t want to expect that because I respect Max as a driver, but I knew I had to be prepared for something like that. In my view, it wasn’t clean driving, but I managed to avoid trouble, and it was a good race overall.”
Now trailing Verstappen by 47 points in the championship, Norris isn’t focusing on the title but remains determined: “I’m keeping my head down, doing my best, and we’re doing a great job as a team. We were the fastest at the end of the race, but I’m focusing on myself and continuing to give it my all.”
