Williams F1 encountered mixed fortunes in Mexico, with Colapinto adapting well while Albon struggled after a difficult practice session.
Williams F1 faced a challenging day in Mexico, with setup choices that didn’t yield results for Franco Colapinto during FP2. Nevertheless, the Argentine driver is pleased with his first experience at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez and his progress in finding the pace.
“It’s my first time driving here, and it was a good day. We made some changes to the car after FP1, but they didn’t work out; the car wasn’t really coming alive, so we’ll need to study that tonight,” Colapinto remarked.
“Overall, it was a positive day for me. The aim was to gradually find my rhythm and learn the circuit, which I managed to do. I think we completed a lot of laps and long runs that will be valuable for Sunday.”
Alex Albon had a more difficult day, with limited running due to a collision in FP1: “It was a frustrating day. We have a lot of work to do tomorrow, but I hope we’re not too far off because FP2 was a Pirelli test, so hopefully the lack of track time is less of a setback.”
The Thai driver explained the circumstances of the incident: “As for the crash, I think Ollie realised I was behind him too late, and he tried his best to speed up through the high-speed corners, but I just caught up with him in the worst part of the track, and there wasn’t much I could do to avoid it.”
