Max Verstappen has been advised to stop fixating on his swearing incident punishment and instead focus fully on his world championship battle, as distractions could impact his title chances during this crucial phase.

Max Verstappen has been advised to stop “wasting his energy” protesting his punishment for swearing during a press conference.

Verstappen ran into trouble with the FIA during the Singapore Grand Prix for describing his Red Bull as “fucked” during Thursday’s press conference.

He was handed community service by FIA stewards as punishment for his coarse language and expressed his dissatisfaction.

“There are two sides. On one hand, my kids watch F1,” said Nico Rosberg, F1 pundit and 2016 world champion.

“On the other hand, we want them to be gladiators and show their emotions.”

“Either way, I’m of the opinion: ‘bleep it and let them show their emotions.’ It’s important for all of us watching.”

“If I were in Max’s position, it wouldn’t be great because he’s wasting his energy on this. Focusing on not speaking, his restraint, is harder than just speaking and watching his language.”

“He needs to focus fully. He’s fighting for the world championship right now.”
