Norris hailed his McLaren after leading in Singapore, while Piastri surged to the podium mid-race.

Just as in his previous win at Zandvoort, Lando Norris triumphed in style in Singapore, dominating the entire race. The McLaren F1 driver did everything necessary to finish ahead of Max Verstappen, closing the gap with the Red Bull driver by just seven points.

“It was an incredible race. I had quite a few tense moments, but I think it was under control otherwise! The car was exceptional, so I was able to push. I led the entire race, it was tough, I’m a bit out of breath, but it was fun,” Norris enthused, having brushed the wall several times.

“It’s not that we’re overdoing it, sometimes we’re just too calm! Or maybe a bit of both, I don’t know. But it’s challenging, you can lock up the tyres quickly. It went well, we took the maximum points, and Oscar is also on the podium, so it’s a good day for the team.”

Visibly worn, he noted having faced difficulties during the race, but the physical preparation of the drivers enables them to endure this: “It’s like Qatar last year, but I wasn’t taking it easy! I’m a bit dizzy right now, but I’m okay.”

Oscar Piastri climbed from fifth to third place, helping McLaren to extend their lead in the constructors’ championship beyond 40 points: “It was intense! A good race, a strong comeback after qualifying since I didn’t have my best afternoon. And clinching a podium is great, the car was exceptional this weekend.”

The Australian also had his share of tense moments during the race: “I stayed calm. It was close with George at turn 1, but I had a good gap so I didn’t take any risks. I feel like I’ve brushed the walls with all four wheels these last two weekends, so the mechanics will certainly have some work to do!”
