F1 Welcomes Santander After Ferrari Split

05/09/2024

F1 has officially welcomed Santander as a new partner, following the bank’s split from Ferrari.

F1 Announces New Partnership with Spanish Bank Santander, Former Ferrari Sponsor. Since Carlos Sainz joined the team, Santander had been sponsoring Ferrari, but with his departure, there was speculation about whether the bank would join Williams.

Ultimately, it becomes the official banking and distribution partner of Formula 1. Besides Ferrari and McLaren, which the company also supported, Santander was the official sponsor of some Grand Prix events in the 2000s and 2010s, recognizable by trophies shaped like its logo.

The new agreement also includes the presence of OpenBank, Santander’s fully digital bank, which aims to be a leader in its field and seeks to expand into the United States in the future.

“I am thrilled that Santander, an incredible global brand, becomes an official partner of Formula 1,” stated Stefano Domenicali, CEO of F1. “Santander is proud of its history in our sport, and it knows that we can offer a huge platform to amplify its story to its customers worldwide.”

“I would like to thank Ana Botín, Executive Chairman of the Santander Group, and Juan Manuel Cendoya, Global Head of Communications, Corporate Marketing and Research and Vice President of Santander Spain, for their passion and commitment to this exciting partnership.”

“Our shared goal of innovation and providing top-tier service to our clients and fans is key to our partnership, and I look forward to the exciting future ahead, on and off the track.”

Ana Botín expressed the importance of this partnership for Santander after years as a team sponsor: “We are delighted to announce our new partnership with Formula 1.”

“For nearly two decades, since Banesto started working with F1, the sport’s power and global reach have helped Santander engage with its customers, deepen relationships, and strengthen its brand.”

“This collaboration will create value across the group and marks an important new chapter in our relationship as we continue to transform and grow our business.”
