Rosberg Offered Stake in Alpine F1, Not New Shares

01/09/2024

Rosberg has received an offer to purchase shares in Alpine F1. However, according to the team, these would not be newly issued shares.

Alpine F1 has responded to Nico Rosberg following his claim at Monza that he had been offered an opportunity to buy a stake in the Enstone-based team.

Speaking while appearing on Sky Sports F1, Nico Rosberg stated that he had received an email to this effect.

Rosberg, who has become a successful entrepreneur following his driving career, was addressing a rumour that the entire Alpine team was up for sale.

“Oh, it’s in my email. I have a secondary opportunity in my email to buy a part of Alpine,” Rosberg declared.

“Yes, I should have brought the details. I can do that!”

When asked if he would proceed with the purchase, Rosberg responded: “No! But even so, Alpine is very profitable. Of course, all this could change…”

Alpine has clarified its position in response to Rosberg’s comments.

“This statement is partially incorrect, and we wish to clarify that the team is not selling any more shares, beyond the 24 percent stake already sold to the investor group (Otro Capital, RedBird Capital Partners, and Maximum Effort Investments) acquired in June 2023.”

“The investor group includes a number of international athletes and sports investors, and the group is continually seeking new potential investors, but as part of its existing 24 percent stake in the team.”

“We reiterate what the senior management has previously stated, the team is categorically not for sale.”

Thus, some current investors might be looking to disengage if Rosberg’s statement holds true, potentially realising a profit estimated at 15%, despite the current situation of the Alpine F1 team.
