Frustrated Hamilton Believes Monza

Hamilton Rues Missed Pole at Monza, Vents Frustration

31/08/2024

Lewis Hamilton laments a missed opportunity for pole, expressing deep frustration at his performance.

Lewis Hamilton, having qualified in sixth position, appeared before the journalists in a highly agitated state to discuss the Monza qualifiers.

The Mercedes F1 driver is indeed angry with himself, believing his W15 had the potential to claim pole if he had performed better in Q3.

“I’m livid, absolutely livid. I could have been on pole, at least on the front row. I just didn’t get the job done.”

“I lost a tenth and a half in the first corner, then a tenth in the last. I’m the only one to blame.”

“Qualifying has been my weakness for some time now, and I can’t figure it out. I’ll keep trying.”

“I’ll be kicking myself for the next two hours, but I need to move forward. We have a good race car, the team has done an incredible job.”

Hamilton, who tends to be as self-critical as Norris at times, adds:

“The car was better and the team deserves more. Perhaps they’ll fare better with Kimi [Antonelli].”
