RB F1 Reveals Strong Potential at Monza Event

Ricciardo Strategically Poised, Keeps Efforts Measured

31/08/2024

Ricciardo adopts a cautious approach as RB F1 shows promising pace in Monza trials.

Daniel Ricciardo expressed satisfaction with his performance on the first day at the Italian Grand Prix, securing eighth place in the second practice session. The RB F1 driver noted the tricky nature of the circuit but was pleased with the car’s showing as the weekend began.

“Yes, it was a good day, there are still a few things to iron out, but I felt good,” Ricciardo commented. “I like this track; it’s one of my favourites. However, it’s different, the asphalt has changed and finding grip is more challenging, we’ve seen accidents because it can catch you off guard. I’m not a fan of the new kerbs, but it’s been a positive day.”

“I’m quite happy; I don’t think we’ll do too much tonight. We’ll make some changes—this is Formula 1… changes are always on the cards! But we’re in a strong position so we won’t overcomplicate things. We’re not complacent, but we won’t overdo it.”

Yuki Tsunoda finished 16th after the day but appreciated the resurfaced Monza track: “The modifications to the track make it smoother, better to drive. You can attack the kerbs more. Ascari is different with the use of the kerbs, but it’s okay.”

“It was a challenging day for me. We need to review and understand why, there are many things to figure out, but we still have the third practice session to understand and improve. I’m still hopeful. There is room for improvement; it wasn’t as straightforward as we wanted, but we’ll study the data and get it working.”
