Red Bull prepares for a rebound at Monza, as Verstappen and Pérez aim to eclipse their recent Zandvoort struggles.
Max Verstappen acknowledges that the Dutch Grand Prix was a true disappointment for him in front of his fans. Nevertheless, the Red Bull driver hopes to bounce back at Monza, a completely different circuit where the hierarchy might also be unexpected.
“We are disappointed with the result at Zandvoort, because we always want to win in front of our crowd, but we are ready for a new race week. There is much work to do, and the team has worked hard to get the best possible settings and a good balance of the car,” Verstappen stated.
“Obviously, Monza is a very fast circuit, so we will see how we perform this week. Many things are new, including the tarmac and the curbs, so we have much work to do to ensure we are competitive.”
“The fans are very passionate and always turn out in force, and I think the weather looks good this week. It’s good to be on an old-school circuit, so we will see what the week holds.”
“Important lessons” learned in the Netherlands
Sergio Pérez, on the other hand, is quite satisfied with the Zandvoort weekend and hopes for even better at Monza: “As a team, we struggled to maximize performance at Zandvoort, but I think we learned important lessons about the car.”
“Lessons that we can use to our advantage at Monza. We used different settings on the two cars in the Netherlands, and we now have more information and data to analyze on the direction to take.”
“McLaren has clearly made a significant step forward in its development, and we know we have to work harder than ever to ensure we stay ahead in both championships.”
“For me, Zandvoort was a consistent weekend, but I still have much to give and find in the car. Monza should offer more favorable conditions, with a new layout and new surfacing in places, we should be fast here, and we are ready for the fight.”
