McLaren’s Monza Mission: More Wins for Norris

29/08/2024

McLaren F1’s Lando Norris eyes victory at Monza, with the team pushing for enhanced performance in Italy.

Lando Norris won his second race of the season at Zandvoort, achieving a Hat Trick (pole, victory, and fastest lap) in the process. The McLaren F1 driver is pleased with this new status and hopes to maintain his momentum at the Italian Grand Prix.

“I am looking forward to heading to Monza as a double Grand Prix winner. It was a great way to start the second half of the 2024 season, and we hope to continue this momentum this weekend as we aim to close the gaps in the championship,” Norris stated.

“It’s a circuit where I’ve had good results in the past. It’s also the fastest track on the calendar, which makes it even more enjoyable. We’ve analyzed what we could do better to ensure more victories in the future. Now, we move forward and are ready to bring good points to the team.”

Oscar Piastri could have performed better at Zandvoort and hopes to bounce back this weekend at Monza: “The team came back strong last week and we are ready to do it again this weekend at Monza.”

“We’ve reviewed the lessons from Zandvoort to see what we can bring this weekend, as we have a very fast car, which makes the race even more exciting,” noted Piastri.

“I’ve raced at Monza several times in lower formulas, and it’s a circuit many of us enjoy because of its speed. I look forward to racing again in front of the Italian fans, as the atmosphere is very good. We have a great opportunity to finish this double-header in the best way possible.”

Andrea Stella, the team director, explains that McLaren still needs to progress: “Following the excellent results achieved by Lando and Oscar at Zandvoort, we immediately turn our focus to the next race weekend. The Italian Grand Prix is one of the most anticipated races on the calendar.”

“The team has designed and manufactured a car that proves extremely competitive. We have everything we need to perform well. But we must ensure we keep our feet on the ground and improve continuously.”

“We want to place ourselves in the best possible position to continue fighting for victories and podiums. We know it won’t be easy, but we are extremely motivated for the remaining races of the season.”
