Speculation swirls as Adrian Newey’s future in Formula 1 becomes a hot topic, with potential shifts to Ferrari.
The future of Adrian Newey is currently a major topic of discussion in Formula 1. Jo Ramirez, who has worked closely with the engineer at McLaren F1, believes he will move to Ferrari, although paddock rumours also link him with Aston Martin.
“I don’t think he’ll retire,” Ramirez told Mundo Deportivo. “I see him at Ferrari, because everything you do successfully in F1, you must also do at Ferrari.”
“Ferrari is the greatest team in F1, and why not, if you have the opportunity… and it’s not about money, because he has far more money than he could ever spend in his lifetime.”
“The challenge might be that he would have to live in Italy, because he is happy in Britain. But today, the rules have changed, you can work remotely, and two or three days a week, you’ll have your private plane to take you back and forth.”
“That’s what he could do. I haven’t spoken to him about it, even though I met him at the historic Monaco GP and we talked, but he doesn’t speak about it. He will continue, but we don’t know where.”
Ramirez holds Adrian Newey in high regard: “He’s a wonderful man, who really knows what a racing car needs to go fast. And he is, like Ayrton Senna, very demanding. If he wants to do something, he does it.”
“But he’s also someone who listens if you say, ‘listen, we could do this.’ Adrian always listens and if the suggestion is good, he uses it, if not, he doesn’t. But at least he listens. He’s a good guy. He walks alone in the paddock, almost in anonymity, humbly. He’s a genius.”
