Daniel Ricciardo revisits Zandvoort, scene of last year’s setback, aiming for a strong comeback in this weekend’s Grand Prix.

Daniel Ricciardo will make a poignant return this weekend to the Netherlands’ Zandvoort circuit, the site of his injury last year, during the Dutch Grand Prix. The RB F1 driver aims to reverse his fortunes and build on his pre-break momentum, targeting top-10 finishes and points.

“The summer break was fantastic. I went back to Australia to see my friends and family, so I feel rejuvenated, fit, and healthy,” the Australian driver stated.

“I’m looking forward to returning to Zandvoort. Of course, that’s where things took a turn last year, but until the incident with Oscar, I was really enjoying the circuit; the car was performing brilliantly.”

“I am confident that we can pick up where we left off before the break, our momentum was strong, and we are definitely in the fight for some points.”

Yuki Tsunoda returned to Japan this summer, which helped him recharge before resuming the season: “I enjoyed the break and am now ready to get back to racing. I went back to Japan.”

“I had a great time with my friends and family, which I don’t often get to do during the season. Afterward, I returned to Italy to follow a training program, with plenty of cycling and even some wakeboarding.”

“Now, it’s time to head to Zandvoort, a unique challenge with its tight, twisty circuit and banked turns. We finished the first part of the season on a high note, and I want to continue that momentum.”

Jody Egginton, the team’s technical director, outlined the team’s objectives: “Zandvoort presents different challenges, but we have a solid base for this race, which, combined with a few minor developments, should help us continue to push forward.”

“The circuit is a classic one, ranking among the shortest on the calendar with 14 varied corners, interspersed with short straights and various curves and many gravel traps, which will punish even the slightest error. Thus, securing a good qualifying position is crucial.”

“As for the race, as has been the case for most of this season, we expect a fierce battle with our closest competitors for points, and we are looking forward to the contest in what will be a very intense second half of the season.”
