Verstappen Eager for Home GP as Season Restarts

21/08/2024

Verstappen relishes his home GP return, thrilled by the fan support and the special race atmosphere.

Max Verstappen is delighted to return to Formula 1, particularly to reconnect with his fans, as the season resumes following a four-week hiatus at the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort. Beyond the crowd support, the Dutchman is eager to get back on the track.

“It was nice to spend some time relaxing with family and friends during the summer break and we feel ready for the second half of the season. It’s fantastic to restart the season at home; there’s always a wonderful atmosphere and the fans are incredible, making it a special race for me,” Verstappen stated.

“It’s a great circuit, with its short straights and narrow track, and I hope we can come back even stronger for this race. We’re looking forward to the coming week and hoping to contend for the victory.”

Sergio Pérez has been confirmed for the end of the season, despite his position being previously under threat within the team, and he will have a new engineer for several races, with Hugh Bird stepping aside to focus on his family: “I’m eager to get back in the car this weekend.”

“The summer break was very important for everyone in the team and in the sport as a whole. With so many races now, everyone needs rest and a reset more than ever. I spent my time in Mexico with my family and I feel refreshed and ready for the second half of the season.”

“I know my entire team feels the same; I was in Milton Keynes this week with them. Everyone will notice a change on the radio from our side of the garage at Zandvoort. Hugh, my race engineer, is expecting a baby very soon and will therefore be spending some time at home.”

“I wish him and his family all the best with their new arrival! Woody, my performance engineer, will take over in the meantime. I know what we can extract from the car in the coming weeks and we will do our utmost to maximize the second half of 2024.”
