Norris swiftly concludes Hungarian GP debrief, emphasizing efficiency in McLaren’s approach.
Lando Norris has shared several insights about McLaren F1’s debrief following the Hungarian Grand Prix, where the team had to contend with him to relinquish the lead lost by Oscar Piastri due to a strategic error. He revealed that quick discussions with Andrea Stella, his manager, and Zak Brown, the CEO, were sufficient.
“Honestly, it was much quicker than that,” Norris stated. “People made it out to be a much bigger deal, but it was a much quicker conversation between Andrea and myself, different people, Zak and myself, my management and myself.”
“It’s not as though it took days; it was a simple conversation that was understood by both parties. That was the decisive factor, the fact that the process was not prolonged. It was a very swift process. We are able to understand it, learn from it, and move forward.”
Brown confirms that he discusses with the drivers primarily to assist Stella: “Ultimately, Andrea is responsible for the performance of the racing team. I’m here to support Andrea, and so the conversations often go like this: ‘What can I do to help you? What do you need? What should I focus on?'”
“I have excellent relationships with the drivers, so this is an area where I step in when we need to have discussions. The discussions are very healthy, they are all team-oriented. We make mistakes together, we succeed together, we learn together.”
“In the case of an event like Hungary, it’s therefore a set of discussions like ‘what have we learned from this event? What have we learned from this experience? What would we do differently next time?'”
“In the end, we finished first and second in order, which was deserved. Ultimately, we wanted to perhaps make things a bit more exciting for the fans.”
