Albon expresses dismay over Williams F1’s 2024 performance, noting the team’s failure to meet expectations.
Alexander Albon has stated that the first half of the 2024 season has been challenging for Williams F1, as they have not introduced significant upgrades to their car.
Albon has thus described his season so far as “disappointing,” attributing this to the lack of developments, which explains why they are only ninth in the championship standings.
“We’ve been on the back foot from the start. We were behind in producing our car last year, and we’ve paid the price throughout the season so far. That’s pretty much the story of where we are now.”
“I know James (Vowles) made a conscious decision to sacrifice this winter to put the right processes in place, but we still hoped to catch up a bit, with more new features on the car later on.”
Albon hopes that the team will begin to make progress with their single-seater as the season resumes.
“We haven’t had many improvements this season so far, so we’ve been on the defensive. I hope we will be working hard at the factory. Everyone is working very hard. Of course, there’s a mandatory break right now, but time will tell.”
“If we can introduce our first real upgrade to the car as soon as we return, I think we can start fighting for points a bit more consistently.”
