RB F1 officially announces Daniel Ricciardo will remain with the team until the end of the season.
Following the announcement to Red Bull Racing staff yesterday that Sergio Perez will continue in his role, a similar leak occurred at RB F1 today, just before noon.
The team at Faenza was informed that the partnership of Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo will remain unchanged for the remainder of the season. The Japanese driver already has a contract for 2025, but the Australian does not.
However, the latter is not facing a mid-season replacement, which could have been a possibility in the event of poor performance. Ricciardo must continue to fight to retain his position for next year, facing competition from Liam Lawson, to whom Dr. Marko has promised an F1 seat, failing which he may look elsewhere (Audi F1)…
Tomorrow’s Imola test schedule will proceed as planned, albeit with some alterations. No longer will there be a direct comparison between Lawson (the major loser of this break) and Ricciardo.
Lawson and Ayumu Iwasa will exclusively share the AlphaTauri AT03 from 2022 (testing an older F1 car, unlimited mileage) throughout the day, while Ricciardo will join Tsunoda in this year’s VCARB 01 for promotional filming, limited to 200 kilometers.
It was previously anticipated that Ricciardo would also complete numerous laps in the AT03. However, it is not ruled out that he may set a benchmark with this car, which he is, however, unfamiliar with.
