Bottas reflects on a failed strategy amid another disappointing weekend for Stake F1.
Valtteri Bottas finished well outside the points after attempting a strategic play at Spa-Francorchamps. On Saturday, the Stake F1 driver had expressed his aim for a top 10 finish in Belgium, but by Sunday, this goal remained elusive.
“We tried, the positive takeaway is that we were in a better position with our race pace. But it wasn’t enough for a top 10; we tried something with the strategy but it failed,” Bottas lamented.
“However, there are positives. We are getting closer, and our pace today was among the best we’ve achieved. We must continue to introduce developments and seek further performance enhancements.”
Guanyu Zhou retired early in the race, not concealing his frustration: “There’s not much to add; I lost power, brakes, then everything else. That pretty much sums up my recent weekends. We need to address these issues; it’s disappointing because I was fast on the hard tyres. It’s not just this weekend; it’s been a pattern for several races. Even yesterday, we didn’t get it right.”
