VF-24 Fails to Impress at Crucial Spa GP

Haas F1 Endures Disappointing Spa Outing

28/07/2024

Haas F1 faced a challenging Spa GP, with the VF-24 significantly underperforming.

Haas F1 had high hopes for the Belgian Grand Prix, a rapid circuit seemingly well-suited to the VF-24.

Regrettably, neither driver finished in the points.

Kevin Magnussen, the standout performer this weekend for the American team, managed only a 15th place finish.

“I think we ran a decent race; we simply lacked the pace to compete further up today.”

“We took what we could and made a single pit stop, which was good. I can’t say we did anything wrong, we just weren’t fast enough.”

“We thought this track would be favourable for us, but we were repeatedly taken by surprise, making it the worst race we’ve had in a while. I’m looking forward to the summer break—as is everyone—and then to some races where we will hopefully score more points.”

Nico Hulkenberg, meanwhile, finished 19th and last, as Zhou retired from the race.

“We lacked pace, harmony, and performance. I didn’t get off to a good start with the car all weekend, and we struggled to find a good balance between sessions.”

“We need to investigate why, but also put this weekend behind us and restart after the summer break. Kevin looked slightly better and managed his single stop well, which was acceptable. Overall, we need to assess our low-downforce performance.”
