Gasly, Ocon Laud Famin as He Exits Alpine F1

28/07/2024

Gasly and Ocon praise outgoing Alpine F1’s Famin for his honesty as he departs after just one year.

Pierre Gasly has expressed gratitude to Bruno Famin for his efforts as the team principal of Alpine F1, ahead of another managerial reshuffle that will see him step down from his F1 role within the brand.

As the Belgian Grand Prix weekend approached, it was announced that Famin would leave his position by the end of August and would instead oversee all other motorsport activities for the Renault group at Viry-Chatillon.

This comes a year after Famin took over from Otmar Szafnauer as team principal, with Spa-Francorchamps also marking the venue for the latter’s departure amid several recent structural changes within the team.

With a new head to be confirmed “in due course,” expected to be Oliver Oakes, Gasly took a moment to reflect on his time with Famin and the impact he had on the team.

“Firstly, I would like to thank Bruno,” commented Gasly during a break in testing in Belgium.

“He has always been very supportive of me during our time together. I’ve had a very good relationship with him during my time in the team. He is very honest, very transparent.”

“He will remain within the Alpine family, albeit in a different role, but I just want to thank him for his work and wish him the best for the future.”

Esteban Ocon added, “I thank Bruno for all the work he has done for us… he’s someone I’ve enjoyed working with and I thank him for his dedication and honesty.”
