Perez Regrets Red Bull Q1 Crash: Team Down Again

20/07/2024

Perez laments a costly mistake in Q1, apologising for disappointing his Red Bull team yet again.

It’s another qualifying disaster for Sergio Perez. As at Silverstone, the Red Bull driver was caught out by track conditions, going off track in Q1 with his Red Bull RB20 today in Hungary.

This time, there’s significant damage; Red Bull was even seen bringing a new chassis from the truck to the garage. Such a change would see him start from the pit lane instead of the 16th position he secured today.

“I am obviously very disappointed as the weekend had been going very well up to this point.”

“It hurts to let the whole team down once again, but ultimately, I am more determined than ever to return to where we need to be.”

“Tomorrow is a new opportunity. We’re starting 15th or 16th, so let’s see what we can do from there.”

“There’s a huge job to do tomorrow. There’s a long race ahead of us, so I think I just need to block out the external noise and focus on the job.”

“Yesterday was the best Friday of the season, so we are clearly making progress. Our time will come.”

“Unfortunately, it’s just one thing after another. I’m aware of that, and it’s a bad run… something we need to change quickly.”
