Schumacher in Talks with Alpine and Audi: Marko

20/07/2024

Mick Schumacher might join Alpine F1 or Audi, reveals Marko, noting both teams are keen on his skills.

Mick Schumacher is “seriously considered” by not one, but two Formula 1 teams for 2025.

This is asserted by Dr. Helmut Marko, a consultant for Red Bull in F1, who notes that the former Haas driver is still not in consideration at RB F1 despite some past pressures from Franz Tost.

“As far as we were concerned, there was no sporting reason for us to meet. He was a junior at Ferrari at the time, and then he joined Mercedes. So, he wasn’t even on the market.”

Michael Schumacher’s 25-year-old son is, however, very much on the market today, despite his dismissal post-2022 by then Haas F1 boss, Gunther Steiner.

“He was not treated fairly by Netflix superstar, Gunther Steiner. That’s a fact. And once you’re out, it’s tough.”

“Mick is one of the most polite and kindest people in the entire paddock, which is rather a disadvantage for him. He also has the burden of a big name.”

“But he has already proven himself on the sporting front. He won the Formula 3 championship, he won the Formula 2 championship, and that alone makes him interesting for Formula 1 teams. And behind the scenes, you only hear good things about him now.”

“Toto Wolff is singing his praises,” adds Marko. “I know that Alpine and Audi are seriously considering him. I would be happy for him, as he would deserve it.”
