Andretti’s F1 Bid: Steiner Warns of Challenging Entry

14/07/2024

Steiner casts doubt on Andretti’s F1 venture, highlighting numerous conflicts with existing teams.

Günther Steiner believes that Michael Andretti and his team’s approach to securing an 11th spot on the Formula 1 grid was misguided. The former Haas F1 head contends that the task was too daunting for Andretti, who attempted to challenge the existing teams.

“It’s a bit late to start navigating,” Steiner stated. “It will be very difficult to succeed because when you go somewhere and upset or disagree with so many people, it’s hard to make amends. If I want to be invited to a party, I need to be nice. If I upset the bouncer, he won’t let me in.”

Some observers have suggested Andretti should purchase Haas, but Steiner is uncertain about the team’s future. He reveals that he is unaware of owner Gene Haas’s long-term plans: “I’ve been here a long time and I still don’t know what he wants to do.”

“I didn’t know last year, I didn’t know two years ago, and I don’t know what he thinks long-term. I’m not avoiding the question, but I don’t know what he thinks, because he might think something today and something different tomorrow.”
