Bottas Eyes 2025 Seat, Engages Williams and Alpine

Valtteri Bottas, aiming for a 2025 F1 seat, was seen at Williams and is in talks with Alpine, seeking a long-term project.

Valtteri Bottas was seen visiting the Williams motorhome alone at Imola.

While Nico Hulkenberg is already contracted with Sauber, owned by Audi, for 2025 and beyond, and the team is also openly courting Carlos Sainz, Bottas admits he is looking for a new home in Formula 1.

Bottas’ manager, Didier Coton, was engaged in lengthy discussions with Alpine F1. Two good possibilities for the former Mercedes F1 driver?

“We are still discussing,” said the popular 34-year-old Finn at Imola. “I don’t think the team will make a decision soon.”

“Yes, I am obviously trying to stay in the picture. I know where I stand and I am evaluating all options. Anyway, you can’t bet on just one horse.”

Bottas admits he doesn’t know where he will end up next year.

“I don’t know. That’s an honest answer. There is no deal and I haven’t signed anything.”

Bottas had a roughly 15-minute meeting with Williams boss James Vowles, whom he knows well from his time at Mercedes. Bottas also began his F1 career with the Grove-based team.

He confirmed to the media that he had met with Vowles, joking that the Sauber motorhome was simply “out of coffee.”

A return for a year at Mercedes F1 isn’t ruled out, but Bottas stated on Thursday that he is looking for more than just a one-year contract.

“I want a long-term project with clear goals and respect for what I can achieve. The faster the car, the better, but the most important thing would be to have security for a few years so we can work towards our goal.”
