Jak Crawford clinched victory in a dramatic, red-flagged Formula 2 Monaco Feature Race, marked by crashes, penalties, and strategic pit stops.
Dunne started on pole this morning, ahead of Victor Martins. At the start, the Frenchman managed to pass the Irish driver, who nevertheless held firm at Ste Dévote and made contact with the ART.
Both ended up sideways on the track, causing several cars behind to collide as well.
The red flag was inevitably shown, with eight drivers already out of the race. Dunne will receive a ten-place grid penalty in Barcelona as a result.
At the restart, now rolling, Fornaroli emerged in the lead. The Italian led a pack of 14 cars, ahead of Montoya and Lindblad.
A virtual safety car was then deployed when Dürksen ended up in the barriers at La Rascasse following contact with Maini.
From then on, the race became a battle against the clock.
While some drivers, including Crawford, had already completed their mandatory pit stop, the safety car was deployed again:
Beganovic crashed into the barriers at Turn 4. The top three runners pitted for fresh tyres, allowing Crawford to take the lead. Lindblad overtook Montoya during this stop.
Eventually, the race was red-flagged again due to damage to the Techpro barriers, with less than five minutes remaining.
Jak Crawford was therefore declared the winner of the feature race. He finished ahead of Fornaroli and Montoya, after Lindblad received a five-second penalty for speeding in the pit lane.
Browning, in fourth, is now the new championship leader. Lindblad was classified fifth, followed by Maini, Stanek, and Cordeel. The final points went to Villagomez and Goethe.
