Antonelli Feeling Confident After Grabbing Sprint Pole in Miami

Andrea Kimi Antonelli dazzled in Miami, securing Sprint pole with a flawless final lap and setting the tone for a thrilling weekend.

Mercedes’ rising star Andrea Kimi Antonelli lit up the Miami track on Friday, snatching pole position for the Sprint race and sending a clear message: he’s here to compete.

The 17-year-old Italian delivered a strong and consistent performance across all three qualifying segments, ultimately sealing the top spot on the grid for Saturday’s 100-kilometer dash.

“It was an intense session, but I’ve been feeling good all day,” Antonelli said after the shootout. “That last lap came together perfectly. I’m really happy to take pole.”

Saturday’s Sprint could mark a major milestone for the young driver — his first Sprint race victory and a taste of leading a Formula 1 field. While Sprint pole doesn’t count as official pole position, it’s a momentum-builder heading into the rest of the weekend.

“Starting from the front row tomorrow will be a new feeling,” he added. “I’m excited to see what we can do in the Sprint and then head into qualifying. I’m ready.”
