Following a stellar win, Mercedes F1 sets sights on additional victories, with Wolff celebrating the perfect result.
Toto Wolff, the Team Principal of Mercedes F1, did not conceal his emotion and joy following the conclusion of the British Grand Prix, won by Lewis Hamilton. It marked a second consecutive victory for the team, which had not seen a win since 2022.
“I wouldn’t have imagined, five races ago, that we could win two in a row. Here, we achieved it with a commendable performance; we were the fastest on the track, and it’s fantastic,” Wolff stated to Canal+, highlighting the significance of this victory.
“It was phenomenal. We couldn’t have scripted a better farewell to the British Grand Prix with Lewis. It was superb. He has faced tough times recently, then delivered flawlessly in varying conditions.”
“I’m truly pleased that we’ve bounced back. We were leading one-two for a long stretch on dry conditions. In terms of performance, it appears we are back in the game. It confirms that we are at the forefront, which is why we never give up.”
“A few races ago, we were sixth and seventh, and the hard work has paid off. Now, we have a car that can win, and I’m confident we’ll have more good times. But winning the British Grand Prix was the most important this year.”
Despite Mercedes’ impressive resurgence, the Austrian holds no illusions about the world championship: “Yes, I think it’s too late, if you look at the mathematical probabilities, there aren’t many chances. But perhaps we can win many more races?”
Wolff acknowledged his own deep emotions, as Hamilton was in tears after the race: “Of course. The last British Grand Prix together, it’s like a fairy tale, to bid farewell to the British public with the most decorated British driver of all time.”
“That’s how the story had to end, for this final year between him and Mercedes, we win the Grand Prix in England, no one can take that away from us, and it’s the ending we wanted.”
