Wolff Eyes Final Push as Mercedes Targets 2024 Closure

Mercedes F1 Gears Up for Crucial US GP Season Finale

Mercedes F1 prepares for the final stretch, aiming to finish 2024 strong and build momentum for next season.

Mercedes F1 is ready for the United States Grand Prix and, more broadly, for the conclusion of the 2024 season. Team principal Toto Wolff emphasized how crucial the final races of the year will be in setting the stage for the next season.

“This weekend marks the beginning of an intense stretch until the end of the year,” Wolff said. “We have six races to contest over the next eight weeks, culminating with the season finale in Abu Dhabi.”

“Although we’re not in contention for the championships, there is still plenty to achieve, and we have the opportunity to create some highlights along the way. We want to finish this year as strongly as possible, build momentum for 2025, and give Lewis the best send-off.”

The Austrian revealed new developments for this weekend and confirmed that it would be the last major upgrade of 2024: “That’s why we’ve worked hard since Singapore to analyze our performance and identify areas for improvement.”

“We’re bringing our final upgrade of the season to Texas, and our goal is to close the gap to the front. It will also provide valuable insights to guide our development for 2025.”

Like many teams, Mercedes opted to introduce the updates despite the Sprint format, which will limit them to just one practice session: “The Sprint format returns this weekend, and we’ll need to be at our best to implement the evolution package effectively.”

“The Circuit of the Americas is a fantastic track, but it caught us off guard last year. Its high-speed layout, combined with a bumpy surface, presents a challenge for both the car and the driver. It’s a circuit we’re looking forward to.”
