Amid FIA election buzz, Toto Wolff shuts down rumors of Susie’s candidacy, insisting she remains focused on her own ventures.
Toto Wolff has dismissed speculation that his wife, Susie Wolff, is eyeing the FIA presidency.
The ongoing tensions within motorsport’s governing body have kept the spotlight on current president Mohammed Ben Sulayem. As the head of Mercedes F1, Wolff has often been portrayed as one of his biggest rivals.
In 2023, Toto and Susie, who leads the all-female F1 Academy series, clashed with Ben Sulayem after he launched a brief investigation into conflicts of interest. Susie called the probe “intimidating and misogynistic,” with some suggesting it was a strategic move to shut down any potential presidential ambitions on her part.
With FIA elections coming up in December, 1996 F1 champion Damon Hill has publicly backed Susie, saying she would be “perfect” for the job.
However, when asked about the rumors, Toto quickly shut them down:
“Not to my knowledge.”
“Susie is an entrepreneur. Someone started this rumor just to stir up trouble.”
While he acknowledges his differences with Ben Sulayem, Wolff insists they agree on some things—like keeping driver behavior in check.
“There are areas where we don’t see eye to eye. But on things like swearing, we actually agree.”
“F1 is a gentleman’s sport. We set the example, and kids shouldn’t hear our drivers cursing all the time.”
For now, the speculation continues, but one thing is clear: Toto isn’t buying into the hype.
