James Vowles confidently asserts Williams will have Formula 1’s strongest driver line-up in 2025, citing key strategic advantages.
James Vowles made the surprising statement that Williams F1 will have the best driver line-up on the grid in 2025.
Williams has signed Carlos Sainz for next year, pairing him with Alex Albon.
It’s a bold claim from Vowles, considering Ferrari will have Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc, while McLaren retains Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.
“In 2025, I believe we will have the best driver duo on the grid. Franco is doing a brilliant job. What he lacks is the experience Carlos will bring, but he’s doing a remarkable job.”
“I think, from the perspective of not only driving the car but also leading the team, we will have the best line-up on the grid. It will help motivate us and push us forward. Good developments are underway, with continuity from 2024 to 2025.”
Vowles’ claim is based on Sainz’s record against strong teammates.
Sainz outperformed Norris during their two years together at McLaren, and he finished ahead of Leclerc in 2021 at Ferrari.
“Yes, that’s my view on the matter. And I’ll explain some of the reasons behind it to some extent. They are all performing at a very high level. Carlos has raced against all the drivers we just mentioned. Against Lando, he succeeded.”
