Jenson Button highlights Williams F1’s FW47 as a major step forward, showcasing bold innovations despite stable regulations, boosting confidence for 2025.
Jenson Button, who has extended his ambassador contract with Williams F1, had a front-row seat yesterday for the FW47’s unveiling at Silverstone during the shakedown of the team’s latest single-seater.
“First of all, it looks absolutely stunning,” said Button. “As you probably know, there won’t be major changes to F1 cars in 2025, but it seems there are many changes on the FW47, which is great to see.”
The 2009 world champion explained what Williams focused on over the winter and the key area that caught the engineers’ attention: “The areas they have worked on are high-downforce corners but also sensitivity.”
“It’s very easy to achieve maximum downforce, and seeing the numbers is always exciting. But what you really want is usable downforce. So it’s about downforce in the corners, lateral downforce, and entry stability, which gives drivers a lot of confidence.”
