After securing crucial points in Monaco, Williams F1 and Alex Albon head to Montreal hopeful for continued success on the resurfaced track.
Williams F1 has crossed the scoring threshold this season, thanks to the two points scored by Alex Albon in Monaco two weeks ago. The Thai driver is pleased to have cleared this hurdle and is hopeful for performance in Montreal.
“As with any team, we want to open our score, and it relieves some pressure. For this weekend, we don’t have a major evolution like last year, which had helped us finish in the points,” says Albon, who is pondering the resurfaced tarmac.
“However, we will continue on the momentum from Monaco, and while the track is not like Monaco, it shares some similarities, so we will try to maintain the same performance. But there is this new surface, so it will be a challenge.”
He does not expect to repeat the seventh place from 2023: “I don’t think we have as good relative pace as last year at this point in the season. So, we will need a boost from the weather. And it seems to happen every time we come here, so we will do a rain dance!”
Logan Sargeant feels in good momentum ahead of this ninth round of the year: “I’ve felt it was going well these past weekends, at least from my side in the car. As a team, things are falling into place, and we hope to continue what we’re doing, and results will come.”
However, the American driver is not yet thinking about transfers for 2025: “I think for me, it’s the same story. I’m focusing on myself, I have to drive on a circuit I like, I will do my best and see what happens.”
