Williams F1 Ready for a More Challenging Weekend in Miami

Williams heads to Miami brimming with confidence, ready to tackle the Sprint format and humid heat in search of more valuable points.

Williams F1 heads to Miami this weekend aiming to build on its strong start to the season. With points up for grabs on both Saturday and Sunday thanks to the Sprint format, the team knows this Grand Prix could be pivotal.

Alex Albon, who’s enjoyed racing in Florida in the past, is excited about the return to Miami — but he knows it won’t be easy.

“Miami is always something special. The atmosphere is electric and it’s one of those races everyone looks forward to,” Albon said. “The Sprint format adds another layer of challenge. With less time to fine-tune the car, we’ll need to be sharp from the very first session.”

Reflecting on the team’s recent progress, he added, “Carlos and I worked really well together in Saudi Arabia. That teamwork helped us score more points and we’re in a strong position now. The goal is to keep that momentum going and make the most of every opportunity this weekend.”

Carlos Sainz, who recently joined Williams, sees the Miami GP as a kind of home race — not geographically, but symbolically.

“Even though Williams is based in the UK, racing in Miami feels like a home event for us because of our American ownership,” Sainz said. “It’s also my first U.S. race with an American team, which makes it even more exciting.”

He echoed Albon’s comments about the Sprint weekend. “With less practice time, we’ll have to be efficient. But we’ve got a competitive car and we’ve made good progress in recent races. The goal is clear — push hard and score big.”
