Williams F1’s FW46 shows promising pace at Bahrain GP, surprising Alex Albon and setting the stage for competitive season.
Williams F1 has observed improvements since the winter tests, to the extent that Alex Albon was surprised by the pace of the FW46 during the initial free practice sessions at the Bahrain Grand Prix. However, he remains cautious about the competition.
“We were surprised by our pace in FP1; we were quick on mediums and lost speed on soft tires. There’s work to be done on the balance. Some cars around us are faster than we’d like, especially Haas. We need to look into what we can do better, we’ll see if there’s time to be found,” Albon remarked.
Optimism at Williams F1: Progress and Confidence Post-Bahrain Tests
The Thai driver believes the hierarchy will remain stable since everyone has made progress: “It’s different behind the wheel, but not in terms of position! Everyone has made significant advancements, so in the end, we’re in the same place because everyone has done a great job this winter. But it’s still early, so we’ll see.”
Logan Sargeant is also positive after these first trials: “Today has been good. The car seems to have taken a significant step forward compared to the test and shows that the work done by Alex and the team on the third day is a step in the right direction. I’m generally pleased with the car and its balance.”
“There are still some adjustments to be made, but I’m fairly confident in the car I have at my disposal. We just need to see where we stand in terms of pace tomorrow. It’s great to start my second season this weekend, and I’m looking forward to continuing to improve and maintain consistency throughout the year.”
