Wet Qualifying Woes Ferrari Fails in Brazil with SF-24 Crash

Ferrari’s Nightmare: Sainz Crashes, Leclerc Stuck in Q3 Chaos

03/11/2024

Ferrari’s hopes for Brazilian GP take a hit as rain hampers both Leclerc and Sainz in challenging qualifying conditions.

Ferrari endured a dreadful qualifying in the wet conditions ahead of this afternoon’s race (scheduled for 16:30) at the São Paulo circuit.

Like many drivers, Carlos Sainz made an error (during Q3), crashing his SF-24 and now hoping it will be ready in time for the start.

“It was the first lap on intermediate tyres, and I clearly misjudged the grip,” he said.

“Honestly, I haven’t felt comfortable in the car in the rain this year for some reason, and we were on the limit throughout the entire session, so I didn’t enjoy that one,” he added.

“We’ll try to see what we can do from here, but it’s clearly a mistake, and I’m not very happy.”

“The car should be ready for the race unless something unforeseen happens. Hats off to the mechanics; I’m sorry.”

Charles Leclerc, meanwhile, reached Q3 but could only secure sixth due to incidents on track. The Monegasque was highly frustrated.

“It was a disaster. I couldn’t get a single lap without a yellow flag!”

“In Q3, we went out early, but I ended up fourth because our garage is far down the pit lane, and the tyres cooled. Everything that could go wrong went wrong.”
