Alpine F1 Braces for Tough Montreal Weekend

06/06/2024

Alpine F1 prepares for a challenging race in Montreal, counting on unpredictable weather to create opportunities.

Can Alpine F1 continue to perform in the top 10 in Montreal?

It will likely be more complicated for the French team, which has the least powerful engine on the grid and is far from having the best chassis. Additionally, as an extra handicap, Esteban Ocon will incur a five-place grid penalty due to his collision with Pierre Gasly in Monaco.

For Bruno Famin, the team director, the aim will still be to score points as was the case in Monaco, perhaps relying on the unpredictable and rainy weather forecast for this weekend in Canada.

“It was positive to see our performance level in the top ten or close in Monaco. We knew that qualifying would be crucial for the final result, which is why we are all satisfied with the improvements made between Friday’s practice and Saturday’s qualifying.”

“However, we are aware that Monaco is very specific, and we must continue to give everything and strive to extract the maximum from the car whenever we are on track.”

“Each year, we enjoy returning to Montreal, particularly because of the unique atmosphere there. It’s an interesting circuit, with tricky sequences and walls sometimes very close. Being a temporary track, the surface is usually quite ‘green’ during the first session on Friday, but grip and overall conditions will be important to assess at the start of the weekend following this year’s complete resurfacing.”

“The layout generally offers good races with its overtaking opportunities. The weather can also be very changeable in Montreal as we have seen in the past, so we must be ready for any eventuality.”
