Vowles: Williams Now Racing in a Whole New Dimension

After a standout Miami GP, Williams earns points again, Vowles says team’s transformation signals a major step forward in 2025.

Williams F1 made headlines in Miami after Alex Albon surged to a P4 finish in the Sprint, lost due to a post-race penalty, and followed it up with a strong P5 in Sunday’s Grand Prix. For Team Principal James Vowles, the performance was proof of how far the team has come.

“This weekend was intense, but I’m genuinely proud of what we achieved here in Miami,” Vowles said. “After the setback in Saturday’s Sprint, bouncing back with both cars in the top ten in qualifying, and then finishing in the points, is incredibly rewarding.”

With five point-scoring finishes in the first six races of the season, Vowles says Williams is in unfamiliar but exciting territory.

“The season is long and teams will keep upgrading, so it’ll be fascinating to see how things evolve. But what we’ve done so far, it’s a world away from where we were before.”

Vowles also praised both Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz for their commitment and performance across the weekend.

“I’m incredibly proud of this team and of our world-class drivers, Alex and Carlos. They’re giving everything for Williams, and we’re heading in the right direction.”
