Max Verstappen’s strategic adjustments led to a surprising pole position at Imola, marking his seventh consecutive top spot. The Red Bull driver praised the team’s efforts and the thrilling nature of the circuit.
Max Verstappen managed to pull off an impressive qualification, securing pole position for the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix at Imola. This marks his seventh consecutive pole since the start of the year, and he admits it was one of the toughest to achieve.
“It’s been a very challenging weekend so far, including this morning, so I’m very happy to be on pole; I didn’t expect it. We made some last-minute changes before qualifying that allowed me to push harder. This circuit is incredible, it’s tough to be on the limit, I touched the gravel in the last corner, and the adrenaline is very high,” said Verstappen.
The Red Bull driver also paid tribute to Ayrton Senna, a pole position specialist who tragically died on this same track 30 years ago. He is pleased to be at the front of the grid and proud to have turned a difficult situation around.
“It’s a great start to the year, and it’s special here. It’s been 30 years since he passed away on this track, and I’m happy to be on pole. It’s a nice tribute in a way; he was an incredible driver, especially in qualifying, so it’s a great day for me and the team.”
