Max Verstappen has evolved, mastering his emotions to enhance his driving performance.
Max Verstappen has “very few obvious negatives” in his performance, according to former F1 strategist Ruth Buscombe.
The former Haas F1 and Alfa Romeo tactician stated that the three-time world champion had raised his game by avoiding unnecessary confrontations with his rivals once he had his chances to win his world championships.
Verstappen’s weakness was “his emotional reactions during the race,” she said.
“He was chasing others, in a way. That’s quite typical for a talented young driver, they don’t know how to hold back, kind of like Marty McFly in ‘Back to the Future.’ They just dive into battles when they don’t need to.”
“You saw the second he had a championship-winning car change, putting his emotional reactions aside. It was impressive. Like a switch. You choose your battles because in a championship, that’s much more important.”
“But you see the same evolution with Ayrton Senna and Lewis Hamilton in their careers, and all drivers like that. There are very few weaknesses in these drivers once the winning machine is launched, there are very few obvious negatives, because to see a negative, you have to lose.”
